Waterstones Piccadilly: A Utopia City of Books

If you love books (as in would sell your soul for books) and visiting the city, there’s no place for perfect to go than Waterstones Piccadilly.

It is likely the biggest bookshop in England, let alone the biggest Waterstones. It can be seen as soon as you exit the tube at Piccadilly Circus. The shop is open from 9am to 9pm everyday, except for Sundays where it’s open 12pm – 6pm.

In fact, Waterstones’ website the shop is “Europe’s largest bookshop” with “over eight miles of bookshelves” according to the web page for Waterstones Piccadilly.

There are five floors, with a Mezzaine where the Jermyn Street Gallery Café can be found) and the 5th View Bar and Restaurant on the fifth floor. I have yet to visit these particular areas of stores but I definitely intend to make a stop at the cafe on my next visit. The rest of the shops floors are entirely full of books.

Unlike other bookstores, Waterstones Piccadilly often has film or television sets, based on book adaptations, for visitors to see and take photos in. In the past, they have had sets from the likes of Charlie’s bedroom from Netflix’s tv series adaptation of Alice Oseman graphics novels Heart-stopper to the inside of Kyla’s home in the Marsh from the film adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owen.

Waterstones Piccadilly is definitely a book lovers dream, and definitely worth a visit. Or five.
